About Norfolk Multi-Family Cabinets & Countertops

Norfolk Multifamily is a division of The Norfolk Companies, a 4th generation, family-owned business. The Norfolk Companies currently has 3 other divisions: Norfolk Hardware & Home Center, Norfolk Kitchen & Bath, and Northeast Cabinet & Countertop Distributors. Together, we are Norfolk.

Currently, Norfolk Multifamily sells a variety of cabinets, countertops & property maintenance supplies to general contractors and property managers, as well as housing authorities. We also offer expert design & project management services.

The Norfolk History

Despite our new name, Norfolk has been in the construction & home improvement industry for over 85 years. Norfolk was originally founded in 1934 by Ben & Lena Rosen, as a local plumbing supply store on Norfolk street in Boston, aptly named “Norfolk Hardware”.

As our customer’s needs grew, so did the company. In addition to plumbing supplies, Norfolk Hardware added kitchen and bath cabinetry to our offerings, with basic starter sets and standard apartment cabinets. We continued adding more products and services over time to meet our customers’ needs. Eventually, the kitchen & bath business grew large enough to become its own division, called Norfolk Kitchen & Bath. Today, Norfolk Kitchen & Bath has 6 design showrooms across Massachusetts & New Hampshire, with close to 75 employees.

Norfolk Hardware continued to add more departments and products to meet customer demand, and moved to a larger location in the south of Boston with over 40,000 square feet of retail & showroom space. To better suit our variety of product offerings, Norfolk Hardware became Norfolk Hardware & Home Center, as it is today.

Additionally, to provide our customers with a local, reliable laminate supplier, Norfolk Hardware founded its own countertop shop in Canton, MA. This countertop shop, known as Northeast Cabinet & Countertop Distributors, became the third division under the Norfolk tree, now known as The Norfolk Companies. And we continue to grow!

Norfolk Multifamily

Norfolk Multi-Family Cabinets & Countertops was part of the original growth of Norfolk Hardware, selling starter sets & cabinets for apartments. As our customer base grew, we hired more employees dedicated exclusively to multifamily, to better serve our contractor & property manager customers. In 2022, the multi-family division was officially renamed “Norfolk Multi-Family Cabinets & Countertops”, the fourth division of The Norfolk Companies.

Norfolk’s motto has always been “big enough to serve you, small enough to know you.”® With over 200 employees, 8 locations, and a strong backbone of support & infrastructure through The Norfolk Companies, we have the capacity to tackle any size multifamily project all across New England. And we are continuing to grow! Yet, we are proud to offer each client personalized, expert service that outmatches any of the national chains and many of our competitors.
